Chaddesley cares about Planet Earth
Do you know….??
I gather a group of ladies from WI were talking the other day about recycling
and wondering if everyone knew where to take/send stuff. For example..
 | Printer cartridges –
Richard is happy to receive empty cartridges which go towards the school |
 | Tin foil – bottle tops and all those shiny trays that are
used for food. Richard will collect these too and pass them to Anna Hanson
who sends them to the Severn Valley Railway. The SVR then sells the material
and uses the funds to restore a railway carriage. So not only are you
helping avoid landfill, but are supporting a local charity |
 | Batteries – The list produced by our local authority says
we can dump them in the bin. Fine for us, but they then go into landfill,
which is not good news. There is a recycling alternative, but there is a
cost attached. We are investigating further. |
 | Recycling - Do you have web access? If not, look on
Richard's computer in the Post Office. There is an A-Z Recycling page on
Wyre Forest's web site from which you can see where to take stuff for
recycling and also what can and cannot be placed in the recycling bins we
all have. |
www.wyreforestdc.gov.uk/ccm/navigation/planning-environment/recycling--rubbish-and-waste
will take you there.
In the very first paragraph you will see reference to the location of
recycling banks. Click on the words underlined and this will take you to the
relevant page, which may also be useful. Please remember that everything that
goes into the wheelie bin is almost certainly bound for a landfill site, so
anything we can do to avoid the wheelie bin the better.
 | Stamps – The source we thought we had seems to have
dried up! So, if you know who will take used stamps, please let us know so
that we can make the information generally available. |
 | Plastics – It seems as though we should only be putting
containers, marked with a 1 or a 2 inside a recycling triangle, in our
recycling bins. All the others should go in the wheelie bin. Does anyone
know of recyclers for the other types of plastic? |
Does anyone have any other useful recycling ideas/queries/tips to share
with us? Let us know if you have – call 777415 or email martin@kenrick.co.uk
