Management Committee confirm that the annual report and financial statements of the charity
comply with current statutory requirements, the requirements of the charity's governing
document and the provisions of the Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) "Accounting and
Reporting by Charities" issued in October 2000.
Method of appointment or election of Management Committee
The management of the charity is the responsibility of the Management Committee who are
elected and co-opted under the terms of the Trust deed.
The Village Hall is managed by a Committee of Management constituted as follows:
Six Trustees
Eight Elected Members
Eight Appointed Members
Not more than four Co-opted Members
Within this deed of Trust, we have two trustees appointed by the Parish Council, and four
co-opted trustees.
Constitution policies and objects
The charity is constituted under a Charity Commission Scheme and is a registered charity number
523114. The principal object of the charity is to maintain the hall for the communal benefit of the
inhabitants of the village and its surrounds. The aim is to provide first class facilities at an
affordable cost to all organisations servicing the community. The management committee
employs a part-time caretaker and depends on the continuing support from local organisations
and helpers.
There have been no changes in the objects since the last annual report.
Review of investments, activities and future development
&
Chairman's Report year ending December 31st 2004
Bookings continue to increase and the building is extremely well used.
The order was placed, and the deposit paid, for the supply and installation of a
public access stairlift. When fitted in January 2005 the Hall will fully conform to the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act.
The investments were depleted in order to assist with the hall refurbishment and it is our
intention to rebuild our reserves as soon as possible.
Our insurance cover has given protection to the hall and its contents in the period and despite increased premiums we still feel that we have
value for money. The cover is index linked and based on recent rebuilding costs and
contents valuation and includes cover for loss of revenue, £5m public liability
and £10m employers' liability.
Expenses for postage, telephone and consumables were paid to the Letting Secretary.
We are fortunate in having the donated services of our accountant for the statutory examination of the
accounts.
Following their grant the Big Lottery Fund (was The Community Fund and National Lottery
Charities Board) have an interest in the building until 2080 and we are obliged to inform them of
any major changes.
The Village Hall continues to provide the Parish with a first class community
facility and I would like to record my thanks to the Committee for all their hard work and commitment.
